The OSU Pride Center and Intercultural Student Services believes that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people should be fully included and affirmed as valued participants in every area of the Oregon State University community. Because people tend to fear what they do not understand, education can be crucial to helping bridge the knowledge gap that contributes to homophobia, genderphobia, biphobia, and transphobia. The Pride Panel is a vital tool in building these bridges and leading to an inclusive, affirming campus community.
The goals of Pride Panels are:
OSU Pride Panels provides trained speakers willing to share compelling coming out stories about sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Our diverse panels give voice to LGBTQ communities, and facilitate deep discussions through Oregon State University and the Corvallis community.
Any OSU student, faculty or staff member may request a Pride Panel. Our volunteers are happy to visit classes, student organizations, residence halls, staff trainings, or various other events. We ask for requests three weeks in advance.
We welcome all students, faculty, staff, and alumni to share their story with the OSU community. We are excited to receive applications from people of all identities, and aim to comprise our panels with people representing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, ally, and related identities.
All of our Panelists complete a one-time training in narrative storytelling and identity development.
